The Troost family has her roots in Rotterdam and the small townships around Rotterdam like Pernis, Schiedam, Charlois and Delfshaven. A lot of old branches have been found in Charlois.
Via Roelof Cranendonck van Emmichoven, a link (although not 100% proven yet) is made to the old noble, medieval houses living in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium and France. And finally to Charlemagne or Charles the Great (and further). This all has to be explored more in detail.
